Sept. 11, 2010.
She was a teacher.
Mrs. Panush is survived by her daughters
and sons-in-law, Dr. Elissa and Richard
Benedek of AIM Arbor, Dr. Margo and Perry
Cohen of New York, Naomi Salus and Lou
Benson of Washington, D.C.; son-in-law,
Melvin Michaelson; grandchildren, David
and Cindy Benedek, Joel and Tami Benedek,
Sarah and David Wasson, Dina and Douglas
Jansen, Carol and Mark Brugger, Helen and
Aydin Guler, Michael Cohen, Daniel Cohen,
Jonathon and Claudia Cohen, Danielle
and Herman Westreich and R.J. and Jalene
Salus; 17 great-grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Louis Panush; loving mother of the late
Judith Michaelson; dear sister of the late
Rose Shur and the late Louis Lipsitz.

Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

HERBERT SCHERR, 81, of Rochester
Hills, Died Sept. 3, 2010.
He is survived by his longtime compan-
ion, Bonnie Albrecht; children, Rhonda
(Ron) Traficante, Steven (Barbara) Scherr,
Larry (Nancy) Scherr; grandchildren,
Danielle, Allison, Rebecca Scherr.
Mr. Scherr was the son of the late
Abraham and the late Gertrude Scherr.
Interment at Beth Abraham Cemetery.

She is survived by her
husband of 51 years, Joel
Shapiro; daughter and
son-in-law, Bonnie and
Hugh Fogel of Las Vegas,

and son, Jasmine and Aaron Shapiro of

Lincolnshire, Ill.; daughter and boyfriend
of eight years, Phyllis Shapiro and Don
McNichol of Waterford; grandchildren,
Mara, Collin and Jamie Shapiro; sisters-
in-law and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and
Simcha Shapiro, Judy and Scott Thomas;
nephew, Matthew Shapiro. She was an
only child, yet blessed to have many first
cousins who were more like siblings rather
than cousins, along with many other lov-
ing family and friends.
Mrs. Shapiro was the daughter of the
late Gertie and the late Julius Hirschman.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

MIRIAM K. STRYER, 85, of Southfield,
died Sept. 5, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter and son-
in-law, Pamela and Dr. Stephen Landau
of Ann Arbor; grandchildren, Stephanie
Landau, Sarah Landau, Benjamin Landau;
great-granddaughter, Sophie.
Mrs. Stryer was the beloved wife of the
late Max Stryer.

Goldstein; nieces and nephews, Paul

London, Ellen and Richard Ravreby, Lisa
Goldstein and Stewart Prog, and their chil-
dren; longtime friend, Mary Hayes.
Mr. Wine is the beloved son of the late
Isadore and the late Ida Wine; cherished
brother of the late Arnold and the late
Shirley Wine and the late Janet and the
late Martin Messinger.
