Metro PHOTO ALBUM trinitytransp W alk4Friendship is an annual event that attracts volun- teers, families and friends of Friendship Circle, an organization in West Bloomfield that aids children with special needs and their families. More than 5,000 people represent- ing a broad cross-section of the com- munity came out for Walk4Friendship 2010 on Sept. 5 to help raise money and community awareness for the vital programs of Friendship Circle. The spirit of the day was electric. Participants of the walks — a 1-mile and a 5k — stretched for blocks on Maple, Drake, Walnut Lake and Halsted roads in West Bloomfield. Inspired by the children and teens of Friendship Circle, the walkers demonstrated sup- port for the organization and enjoyed music, shows, a petting zoo, rides, arts and crafts, great food and more. Walk4Friendship is the organiza- tion's major fundraiser. This year's event raised more than $440,000, which will be used to expand the services and activities Friendship Circle offers to more than 800 families throughout Metro Detroit. ❑ ortation.com Above: Students from Frankel Jewish Academy in West Bloomfield on the 1-mile walk.
