He was in Cuba during the Cuban Crisis and in Vietnam. She studied modern dance and ballet at the Juilliard School of Music and danced with the Jose Limon Company Katz and the Baltimore City Ballet. In Detroit, she chaired the Dance Department of Marygrove College, where she was greatly appreciated as a gifted and talented teacher and choreographer. Obituaries Among her many works was the cho- reography of Bernstein's Mass for the Marygrove College Dance Company. Mrs. Katz was a founding member of the American Dance Therapy Association and served that organization in many capacities, including president. As a dance/movement therapist, she worked with autistic children, severely disturbed psychiatric in-patients, as well as those who had suffered severe closed head and spinal cord injuries. She and her husband, Jerry, were nationally prominent breeders and exhibi- tors of dogs, Briards, in both conforma- tion and obedience. Mrs. Katz served the Briard Club of America in a host of educational capacities. For the past several years, she served as liaison between Briard owners whose dogs had been diagnosed with malignancies and various cancer researchers around the country. Mrs. Katz is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jerry Katz; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Morrie and Delores Katz; sister-in-law, Anna Katz Brenner; cousins, Dr. Jenaii Gold and Dr. Eric McPherson, Marc and Cathy Klein and their children. He was born in Leeds, England, in 1938 and immigrated to the United States on the Scott Queen Mary after World War II. His ambi- tion and scholarly pursuits led to the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with honors and later attend- ed Hebrew Union College-Cincinnati, where he was ordained in 1966. Rabbi Scott's rabbinical career spanned 40 years, continuing through his retirement. His illustrious career began as an assistant rabbi at Congregation Beth Israel under Rabbi Al Plotkin, whom he considered a dear friend and mentor. He also was an assis- tant rabbi at Temple Sholom in Chicago, Ill., under Rabbi Louis Binstock; there he met his wife, Ardis Koloms, and his first son, Jeffrey, was born. Shortly thereafter, he became the rabbi of sever- al congregations in the southern United States, including Temple Bnai Israel in Monroe, La. — where his children David and Stephanie were born — and Temple B'nai Sholom in Huntsville, Ala. In the early 80s, he relocated to South Africa, where he served as rabbi of Temple David in Johannesburg. At the close of the decade, he returned to the United States and was the rabbi of Michigan's Tri-City Jewish Community: Bay City, Saginaw, Midland, for more than 13 years till his retirement in 2000. Following his "retirement," he moved to the Detroit area to take care of his ailing wife and became involved in teach-
