9-11 Memorial In Israel

Jerusalem — Israel has the only 9-11
memorial in the world outside of New
York that lists the name of every victim.
It's installed at the entrance of Jerusalem's
Arazim Park.
The monument, dedicated last fall to
the two nations' dedication to peace, was
designed by Eliezer Weishoff, an award-
winning artist. The monument reaches
30 feet and is in the shape of a waving
American flag that transforms into a flame.
Jewish National Fund headed the proj-
ect, raising the funding from the Bronka
Staysky Rabin Weintraub Trust and
Edward Blank, a New Yorker who lost his wife several days before 9-11.

JWV Bale Post Dinner

The Pfc. Joseph L. Bale Post of the
Jewish War Veterans of the United States
of America will hold its annual paid-up
membership dinner on Tuesday, Sept.
14, at Glen Oaks Conference Center,
30500 W. 13 Mile, Farmington Hills.
The reception will begin at 6 p.m.
and the dinner at 7 p.m. For required

Help For Party Givers

The eighth annual Joe Cornell Event
Planning Expo will be held 11 a.m.-
3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Jewish
Community center in West Bloomfield.
The expo is open to the public and
free of charge.
Expo attendees will receive a compli-
mentary issue of the new Plan IT! mag-
azine, a four-color glossy publication
offering event-planning tips and some
of Michigan's best party vendors.
The Joe Cornell Event Planning Expo
will highlight photographers, entertain-
ers, invitations, florists, decorators,
gift-makers, hotels, caterers, cakes,
valet services and bands. Joe Cornell
Entertainment is based in Southfield.

FIDF Women's Luncheon
The Walled Lake-based Michigan
Friends of the Israel Defense Forces
(MFIDF) will host its annual Women's
Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept.
14, at Tam O'Shanter Country Club in
West Bloomfield.
The requested contribution is $136.
All proceeds will benefit FIDF's scholar-
ship program, which grants full aca-
demic scholarships to former combat
soldiers from socioeconomically disad-
vantaged backgrounds.
A dairy lunch will be served; kosher
meals are available upon request. A
raffle will be held; tickets are $20 each
or three for $50.

ATID, the Alliance for Teens in Detroit,
has opened registration for the 2010-
2011 academic year. Contact Rabbi

ATID, which means "future" in
Hebrew, represents a collaboration
among local Conservative congrega-
tions (Shaarey Zedek, Adat Shalom,
Beth Ahm and B'nai Moshe) to create
educational, social and social action
events and programs.
ATID has revamped its format.
Teens may choose from any of the
following: Monday Night School
featuring unique electives; MCUSY:
Motor City United Synagogue Youth;
Teen Volunteer Corps; Experiential
Education, which includes trips to New
York, Philadelphia and Belize.

Decorate Temple Sukkah

The Susan and Rabbi Harold Loss
Early Childhood Center (ECC) at
Temple Israel in West Bloomfield will
host its annual Sukkah Decorating
Party 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22.
Participants will build and decorate
the Temple Israel sukkah, and enjoy
arts and crafts and a pizza dinner.
