They both have two younger siblings
and love sports. And Nevo even has an
uncle named Tomer.
Nevo was just 6 months old when
his father, Yossi, was killed along with
11 of his men while leading a team
of elite Navy commandos on a secret
mission in Lebanon in 1997. Just
last week, Hezbullah's leader, Hassan
Nasrallah, boasted about the killings
in an effort to assert his organization's
military prowess.
Soft-spoken, Nevo says he's glad to be
on the trip and has been having fun. He
looks sad and serious when he says he
has no memories of his father; and he
much prefers to talk about sports, surf-
ing, break dancing, playing guitar and
his newfound interest in baseball like
running the bases," he says.
Stacey and Erik Bean of Farmington
Hills have hosted Israeli guests before,
but they were especially impressed by
Tomer and Nevo as well as Adi Levis
and Adi Pereg, who also met on the trip
and became good friends.
"The girls are just so sweet': Stacey
said, explaining that they had offered

them a room of their own to share, but
instead they chose to sleep on air mat-
tresses in their daughter Blair's room.
Their son Ethan enjoyed the boys and
they all went to the zoo together. "They
are so nice to us and our kids' said
Stacey. "They thank us all the time
Netanel Levis, Adi's brother, is short
and smiley. He eagerly jumped onstage
with the Tzofim at Temple Israel to join
them in dance moves. He stayed with
Shlomi Hamer and Robyn Lederman
of West Bloomfield and their three chil-
dren. Netanel's father, Yitzhak, died in
combat in 2001.
"I love the families," he said after
playing basketball at Franklin. "We feel
like we are in our own house. They give
us love. They really want us to be with
them; they are really accepting."
Like Nevo, Hila Yosha's father Oved
was a naval commando but he died
from cancer after taking part in train-
ing exercises in the heavily polluted
Kishon River. Dozens of other soldiers
also contracted cancer.
Hila has been to the United States
before, but this trip was very special.
Like the others, she enjoyed waterskiing
