Special Report

Ben Falik I Special to the Jewish News
Photos by Brett Mountain

I'm standing overlooking
Rouge Park on Detroit's far west side. I am
addressing 500 people from as diverse a set of back-
- grounds as you could possibly imagine, all of whom have a cou-
ple of important things in common: They have both impacted and been
impacted by-Summer in the City — and they want me to put down the
megaphone so they can eat. ,
Its Friday the 13th, the final Friday barbecue of our ninth season of Summer in the City.
We've just finished painting a brightly colored mural on a three-story apartment building and
running the 3rd Annual Summer irt the City Olympics. It's 93 degrees. I have long since sweated
. through my T-shirt. And I would not trade this for anything in the world.
