From the Director's Chair It's hard to believe that it is almost a year since I came aboard as your Executive Director. You are a welcoming and warm Jewish Stephen M. Goldman community and I thank you for your support. I have been busy building on the founda- tion begun by my predecessor and we are reaching ever greater heights in so many ways. Some of the new programs sched- uled include lectures, seminars, teacher training, cooperative programs with the Cohn-Haddow Center of Wayne State University, the Voice Vision Holocaust Archive of the University of Michigan Archive, and the Jewish Studies Department of MSU, other community and state organizations and museums around the world. Also, we have scheduled temporary exhibi- tions through 2012 from museums in the United States, England and Israel. We have also built bridges to or- ganizations within the Jewish commu- nity: Federation, the JCC, the Temples and Synagogues, Jet Theatre, CHAIM, the Holocaust Education Coalition, among others, becoming a part of the Jewish community rather than apart from it. We have also reached out to the Chaldean, Roman Catholic, African-American and Armenian com- munities to raise awareness among our neighbors. Another change that you will see beginning after Labor Day is that the center will be charging admission. This initiative, passed by the Board of Directors, will have the benefit of bringing much needed revenue to the HMC and, perhaps even more impor- tant, the perception to the visitor of value – each person coming through will have made a financial commit- ment to the center (and will realize that there is financial benefit to mem- bership which grants free unlimited admission). The charges are in line with other museums and attractions in the area as well as Holocaust museums throughout the country. There will be no charge, of course, for visiting the library, the museum shop and for some programs. If you are NOT a member – join now and be part of the future of the Holocaust Memorial Center Zekelman Family Campus and get in for free. Call or go on line www.holocaustcent- er.org to become a member. COME BACK AGAIN .. . FOR THE FIRST TIME! We Need Your Input! Are you interested in sharing feed- back regarding your museum experi- ence? We are in the process of surveying our visitors to obtain feedback on visi- tor perceptions and experiences while touring the museum. You can take the survey either in the museum or online at www.holocaustcenter.org by click- ing on Visitor Survey. It is completely anonymous and the feedback will allow us to identify what we are doing well and how to improve your future museum experience. The survey takes only a few minutes of your time and is extremely helpful in our efforts to continuously improve and bring in exhibits of interest to the community. Do you want to assist in engaging and enlightening a David M. Moss generation of youth? Can you help us create a better world of hope, courage and strength? Sponsors do all these things and more. Sponsorship is a new concept at our Holocaust Memorial Center. Once the domain of sporting events, non-profits everywhere are turning to sponsorship dollars as an additional revenue stream. We offer "Day Sponsorships" for $1,000 per day, or $5,000 for a week. This is an ideal opportunity for banks, credit unions and small busi- 2 HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL CEWER ZEICELMAN FAMIIX CAMPUS I Summer 2010 nesses to make a difference, and to get their message in front of hundreds of people. Day Sponsors are able to bring in their own staff at no charge for a private tour, and to provide handouts to museum visitors. Local businesses can sponsor a table at our annual dinner, a page on our website—or even the entire website. Web sponsors are prominently noted on our website, and have their logo included in all e-mail news blasts. Exhibit sponsorships offer key marketing benefits, with opportuni- ties starting at $2,500 and ranging to $25,000 for a Presenting Sponsorship. Exhibit sponsor benefits include sig- nage, web and social media mentions, print advertising mentions, company logo on printed materials, VIP catered reception, and well-targeted news releases. Museum sponsors are instrumental in helping us run our daily operations, keep our online content up to date and relevant, host educational semi- nars, and bring in fresh new content that will bring visitors back time after time, such as Synagogues in Germany: A Virtual Reconstruction, on display August 29 – November 29. There are a number of other ways that people and businesses can sup- port our Holocaust Center. Annual Campaign and Membership dona- tions are a "renewable source" of funds that provide for our daily operations. Membership gifts come with added benefits, such as free admission, print and e-newsletters, invitations to members-only events, and special recognition. For more information on dona- tions and sponsorships, please contact Development Director David Moss at 248.553.2400, ext. 23, or david.moss@holocaustcenter.org BEST SOURCE CREDIT P.
