Dearborn student Leora
Flatt of Oak Park. The
HMD Board of Governors
Flatt
created this award in
memory of the late Davd
Bittker of Franklin, whose leadership helped
guide both HMD and Hillel International.
Flatt completed her junior year at the
University of Michigan-Dearborn, study-
ing psychology. She served on the executive
board of the Jewish Student Organization as
events coordinator and played a key role in
campus Jewish programs. On a community
level, she co-chaired HivID's largest program,
the pre-Thanksgiving WhirlyBall event.
Rabbi Michael Pont, former Detroiter and
leader of Temple Beth Ahrn in Aberdeen,
N. J., was recently elected president of the
Rabbinical Assembly of New Jersey. The
organization serves 120 Conservative rabbis.
Rabbi Pont will plan educational program-
ming for leaders of the Conservative move-
ment and hold joint meetings with Reform
rabbis in the area. Rabbi Pont has begun his
11th year in the rabbinate.
University. Before leaving for graduate school
at Indiana University's School of Public and
Environmental Affairs, he worked as a volun-
teer coordinator in Lansing for Virg Bernero's
Michigan gubernatorial campaign.

Symphony Orchestra.
He is a member of the

Festival Honors Orchestra.
Dr. David Chinsky,
executive coach, leader-
ship trainer and author,
has been selected to
be featured in Yes You
Can, a book series
from Tennessee-based
Insight Publishing. The
Chinsky
book features bestsell-
ing authors offering
time-tested strategies for success. David
Chinsky & Associates was founded in
2002; the Institute for Leadership Fitness
was established in 2007. Chinsky is a
graduate of the University of Michigan's
Human Resource Executive Program.

Howard Wallach of Farmington Hills
is the newly elected president of the
Farmington Board of Education. Wallach,
a lawyer, was first
appointed to the board
in 2004 and has previ-
ously served as board
president.
Steven Benson, a
senior at the University
Wallach
of Michigan and a
2007 graduate of West
Bloomfield High School,
was elected president
of the LSA Student
Government at U-M. He
will be responsible for
leading the organization
that seeks to improve
Benson
and enhance the under-
graduate experience for
approximately 20,000 students. An honor
student and a former executive board
member of Sigma Alpha Mu, Benson is
majoring in political science and edu-
cation. His parents are Kim and Lori
Benson of West Bloomfield.
