ave you ever wondered what
happened to your first car?
So many of us have great
memories of that Buick, Chevrolet or
Chrysler that was passed down to us
from parents or that we saved up enough
money to buy.
For the past three years, a dedicated
group of men and women have met
at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield to
share their love and passion for cars.
In the spring of 2008, Rabbi Rob
Morais, Temple Israel's director of educa-
tion and lifelong learning, started the
Temple Israel Car Klub (TICK). Since
then, the club has held several events
including an annual Drive-in Shabbat,
a chance to come together and enjoy
looking at some wonderful cars and to
celebrate Shabbat dinner and services.
The yearly highlight has been the
morning experience for age-divided kids in
grades K-6 includes parsha play, games and
a snack. Barbara Dworin leads Tot Shabbat;
other teachers are Susan Sinai and Debbie
Rosenberg. RSVP to Dave Goodman: dgood-
man@cbahm.org or (248) 851-6880.
Join doula Rachel Raimi at the New
Mothers' Circle 9:30-11:00 a.m. Thursday,
Aug. 17, at Cong. Beth Shalom in Oak Park.
Babies welcome. (248) 547-7970.
HOW TO SEND IN CALENDAR LISTINGS:

our noon Tuesday deadline, nine days
prior to publication.

Dream Cruise Warm-up Show held each
August. The group has created a show
that is different from the average car
gathering you can go to just about any
day of the week in the Detroit area.
A special section of the show is dedi-
cated to feature cars and has had amaz-
ing cars like the Monkeemobile created
for the 1960s music group, the Monkees.
This year, for its show from 10 a.m.-3
p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, in the Temple park-
ing lot, TICK invited four local concept
car builders to show off their creations.
They include Steve Pasteiner, Advance
Automotive Technologies, Heldo and
Corvette Nomad; Gordon Heidecker,
HPP (Heide Performance Products),
Dodge Challenger; Ken Lingenfelter,
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering,
2010 Camaro TA concept car; and Herb
Adams, Passion Motors, Contessa.
If you own a classic, concept, antique
or special interest car, bring your car,
share its story and history with other car
enthusiasts.
