Together in family business, Warren, Brent and Jonathan are partners in a private equity firm, Ludlow Ventures LLC, located in Southfield. Upon returning to Detroit from Atlanta, Jonathon tried to find a place for himself with one of his family's pre-existing private equity groups. However, it was soon realized that the best way to get involved would be to start a new company with a new approach. Jonathon said, "Most venture capital firms have the attitude that says, 'Sure, I'll invest in your company... but I'll also take it over!' We have more of a Mid- Western, nice Jewish-boy approach. If it's appro- priate, we'd like YOU to run your company and we'll be your back seat partners." Ludlow Ventures is a boutique private equity firm looking to back passionate, experienced entrepreneurs and managers. With the economic downturn here in Michigan, making it especially hard to get a business loan from the bank, going to a private equity firm is just one more option for an entrepreneur to get funding. Jonathon has been personally inspired by his two senior partners, his father Brent Triest, and great uncle Warren Coville. Jonathon said, "They have been phenomenal and patient teachers; they have made and continue to make learning about this business fun."
