Aish Rosh Hashanah Retreat
Aish HaTorah of Metro Detroit will be
holding High Holiday services at the Butzel
Conference Center near Ortonville from
Wednesday, Sept. 8, until Saturday night,
Sept. 11. It is designed to make the High
Holidays an intensely spiritual experience.
The event will provide an emphasis on
understanding what the holiday is about;
the meaning of the rituals such as shofar as
well as classes on the themes of the day.
For information, the schedule and costs
contact Rabbi Alon Tolwin at Aish at (248)
891-9044 or by e-mail at atolvvin@aish.com .
Dream Cruisin' Kiddush
The Woodard Avenue Shul (WAS) will be
presenting a Dream Kiddush, in honor of
the Dream Cruise, noon Saturday, Aug. 21.
Because the shul is on Woodward Avenue,
the "WAS" has a opportunity to celebrate
two profound stories of Detroit culture:
Woodward Avenue and its role in the
automobile industry; and the strength of
the Detroit Jewish community. The Dream
Kiddush can bring both stories together.
The Deluxe Dream Kiddush Lunch is
open to the public, and there is no charge.
In another event, the Woodward Avenue
Shul will present a gala champagne recep-
tion honoring Oakland County Treasurer
Andy Meisner at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Tickets are available for purchase.
For information, contact: Rabbi Chanoch
Hadar, 25595 Woodward Avenue, Royal Oak,
MI 48067, (248) 414-SHUL; e-mail, wood-
wardshul@gmail.com ; or the website,
