ELLEN PORVIN, 72, of Clarkston, died
July 1, 2010.
She was the owner of the Detroit Gallery
of Contemporary Crafts located in the
Fisher Building.
Mrs. Porvin is survived by her sons and
daughter-in-law, Stephen and Svetlana
Porvin of Illinois, Daniel Porvin of New
York; daughter, Joanna Porvin of Detroit.
She is also survived by Dr. Michael Sherbin,
Bebe Kantor and Lillian Reinheimer and a
close knit group of longtime friends.
She was the devoted daughter of the late
Harry and the late Minnie Steinberg; loving
niece of the late Bessie Sherbin Columbus.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

JEROME L. REISS, 82,
of West Bloomfield, died
July 3, 2010.
Known for his exu-
berance, charisma and
entrepreneurial spirit,
Mr. Reiss was an idea
man who began his
Reiss
professional career as
a pharmacist. He later became one of the
Detroit area's most respected commercial
Realtors and was instrumental in much
of the metropolitan area's suburban office
development. With his partners, Mr. Reiss
formed Burland, Reiss, Murphy & Mosher
in Southfield in the 1960s.
A born leader, Mr. Reiss assumed
many roles of responsibility in the Jewish
community, including president of the
Temple Beth El Men's Club. Professionally,
he served as president of the Detroit
Association of Realtors and the Southfield
Rotary.
Mr. Reiss served in the United States
Army during the Korean War era as a
sergeant assigned as a pharmacist to an
evacuation hospital in Germany.
Following his retirement, Mr. Reiss
remained active in the pharmacy indus-
try, as well as in a number of community
organizations and activities, including
the West Bloomfield Rotary and the West
Bloomfield Senior program.
In addition to his beloved wife, Lillian
(Rome), Mr. Reiss is survived by daugh-
ters, Robin and Wendy; Archie, his
grand-dog; and many loving relatives and
friends.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery
in Royal Oak. Contributions may be made

EDMUND NEIL ROSENTHAL, 65, of
Waterford, died June 28, 2010.
He is survived by his brother and sis-
ter-in-law, Marvin and Marian Rosenthal
of Southfield; loving uncle and aunt, Jack
and Lois Berman; many loving nieces and
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Rosenthal was the loving son of the
late Abraham J. and the late Eve Rosenthal.
Graveside services were held at Adat
Shalom Memorial Park in Livonia.

PHILLIP SALK, 88, of Chesterfield
Township, died June 29, 2010, at William
Beaumont Hospital in Troy.
He owned Famous Electric Company. He
served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Salk is survived by his wife,
Constance; children, Kevin, Tracey, Brian
(Lisa) and Elliot; five grandchildren; sib-
lings, Udo (Garet') Salk and Rose (Herbert)
Schwidkay.
He was the brother of the late Shirley
Sniderman.
