ichard Gershenson, 64, of
Bloomfield Hills, died July 1,
2010.
His career in real estate began after
completion of law school when he joined
his brothers, father and uncle as a prin-
cipal in the successive A&W Gershenson,
Ramco-Associates, Ramco-Gershenson
and Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust
companies.
His expertise in all aspects of the devel-
opment business resulted in the production
of nearly 11 million square feet of retail
space under the private Ramco banner.
When the Ramco-Gershenson team
took the company public in 1996 creat-
ing Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust
(RGPT), a NYSE Company, Mr. Gershenson

She is survived by her
beloved husband, Byron

SELMA APEL, 96, of West Bloomfield,
died July 1, 2010.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Fred and Beverly Apel;
grandchildren, Marcy and Steven Rowe,

Lynn Apel and Heidi and Gary Archuleta
and Gayle and Lorne Gold; great-grand-
children, Julia Rowe, Alan Rowe, Jake

Lidia Archuleta, Shane Archuleta, Aidan

Mrs. Apel was the beloved wife of the
late Samuel J. Apel; the cherished mother
of the late Norman Apel and the late
Carolyn Apel; the dear mother-in-law of
the late Carolyn Apel.
Interment at Beth Moses Cemetery.

JULIUS BECKER, 82, of Farmington Hills,
died July 4, 2010.
He was the owner of North End Scrap in
Wyandotte.
Mr. Becker is survived by his wife of 62

law, Darlene and Judge Edward Sosnick of
Bloomfield Hills; sons and daughter-in-law,
Dennis and Lori Becker of Birmingham,
Kenneth Becker of Farmington Hills; grand-
children, Karen and Ryan Rosett, Meredith

JUDY DESENBERG, 74,
of Huntington Woods, died
July 1, 2010.
She was originally from
Glencoe, Ill., and attended
New Trier High School. She
graduated with a teach-
ing degree from National
Desenberg
College of Education in
Evanston, Ill.
After teaching and raising a family, Mrs.
Desenberg went on to receive her MSW
from the University of Michigan. She then
counseled families and children at Oakland
Family Services in Berkley for 20 years.
Mrs. Desenberg was a loving wife, mother
and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 50
years, Jon; her children, Lynn (Daniel)
Heumann of Ann Arbor, Jon (Rebecca)
Desenberg, of Washington, D.C.; grand-
daughter, Katie Heumann; sister, Edith
(Paul) Sobel of Tucson, Ariz.
A private family service was held in
Traverse City. A memorial service will be
held on Thursday, July 8, at 1 p.m. at the
Birmingham Temple in Farmington Hills.
Following the service, the family will receive
friends at their home in Huntington Woods
between 4-8 p.m. on July 8 and 9.

For 64 years she was the beloved wife of
