y the time you read this, 109 teens from
Metro Detroit will have had their first
day or two in Israel as part of the Detroit
Federation's Teen Mission 2010 (TM10).
Twelve teens from Detroit's Partnership 2000
region (Central Galilee) join them.
The 121 total participants are ages15-17.
Accompanying the group will be Mark Kowalsky,
TM10 chair. Federation staff members include
Beth Margolin, Teen Mission coordinator; Yoav
Raban, Detroit's community shaliach; and
Amy Neistein, director, Israel and Overseas
Department. Suzan Curhan serves as advisory
chair.
TM10 is in partnership with area congrega-
tions and Tamarack Camps. Rabbi Josh Bennett
of Temple Israel and Rabbi Daniel Schwartz of
Temple Shir Shalom, both in West Bloomfield,
Rabbi Aaron Starr of Congregation Shaarey Zedek
of Oakland County and Rabbi Aaron Bergman
of Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills
will be heading buses. Rabbi Norman Roman of
Temple Kol Ami in West Bloomfield will join the
trip for five days.
Each bus also will have three Metro Detroit
madrichim (counselors), one Israeli madrich,
a tour guide, and a security guard and medic.
Three additional Israeli counselors are also part
of the staff, with two coming from the Central
Galilee.

Rachel Berlin, 15, of Farmington Hills are ready to go.

Jewish educator Susan Sinai's Graffiti Gear Mania Company has created
wearable, lightweight Autograph Paper Jackets that friends can sign as
keepsakes.
The windbreakers are ideal for those away at camp or on an Israel teen
mission as well as b'nai mitzvah parties or the last day of school, says Sinai.
The jackets are available at local stores or by contacting the company by
e-mail at RemarkableUcreations@gmail.com . A portion of the proceeds will
help send special needs children to camp.
