GERALD G. ABEL, 85, formerly of

Southfield, died June 25, 2010.
He was a man of many talents,
known for his support of the
Congregation Beth Shalom, his love
of music, his trumpet playing, his
enthusiasm for ham radio and his
dedication to family, including his
late wife, Marcia, his companion of
60 years. For many years, he was
involved in the furniture business.
Mr. Abel is survived by son and
daughter-in-law, Marc and Lori
Abel of Libertyville, Ill.; daughter
and son-in-law, Gail and Michael
Rapport of Boulder, Colo.; grand-
children, Jessica Abel, Rebekah
Abel, Tolya Rapport and Irina
Rapport; many other loving family
members and friends.
Interment at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may
be made to Congregation Beth
Shalom or the Mr. Holland's Opus
Foundation. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.

MICHAEL "MORTY" ADLER, 77,

of Valley Glen, Calif., died June 14,
2010, after a long battle with cancer.
He enjoyed spending time with
his family and friends. No matter
where life took him, he was there for
anyone who needed him. He relo-
cated to California from Detroit in
1960, where he was actively involved
in his grandchildren's soccer and
hockey games and other various
sport and school activities. He is
what you would call a family man.
He owned and operated Royal
Soap for over 35 years with his son
Jeffery.
Mr. Adler is survived by his wife
of 53 years, Joyce (Bryman); sons
and daughter-in-law, Allan, Jeffery
and Cheryl; grandchildren, Hillary,
Ashlee, Scott, Alissa and Blake.
