Also honored at the event was YAD president-elect Josh Levine of Huntington
Woods, who received the Mark Family Young Leadership Award. New this year is
YAD's Entree II leadership development program and a clusters program where
groups like a book club bring together 20- and 30-somethings who share common
interests. Another focus for the year ahead is improving Metro Detroit's image.
"We've heard enough about how bad things are and it's time to change the mes-
sage to a positive one Liss said. "There are a lot of committed, enthusiastic young
people who want to make things better in our community. I'm excited about the
opportunities in front of us."
Spotted in the annual meeting crowd were: Sharone and Joey Bigelman of
Birmingham; Kate Bush of Detroit; AJ Falik, Jason Zimmerman, Lindsey
and Evan Feldman, all of Huntington Woods; Shirley and Lenny Cetner of
Birmingham; Hy Safran of Franklin; Marisa Kalmus of Royal Oak; and Dani and
Greg Glickfeld and Bonnie and Eric Globerman, all of West Bloomfield.

fresh crop of young adults is ready to lead the way as the Young Adult
Division of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit begins a new year
of fundraising and programming. Ilana Liss of Birmingham was officially
installed as YAD president during the organization's 72nd
annual meeting. She took the reins from outgoing president
David Kramer of Bloomfield Hills.
About 140 people attended the June 9 event and dessert
reception at the Franklin home of Marcie and Rob Orley and
also cheered the installation of the 2010-2011 YAD board.
"I'm hoping to make YAD operate more efficiently and
make the experience of participating in YAD more meaning-
ful," said Liss. "I want young people in our community to
understand why Federation is so important to our Jewish
community and Jews around the world."
