"How to find the right orthodontist for your child"
There are many important Issues in choosing, as this will be a long-term
ir's tr. "'
relationship, and it should be enjoyable. The orthodontist should be a
orthodontics, which means he, or she, had been selected to a graduate program
beyond dental school, which requires additional full time training froni two to lb
years. He/She then limits

other facets of dentistry.
R .
Equally important is to ask your son or daughter where they feel comfortable after
the initial consultation. Did the orthodontist speak to your child and see what
Issues are important to them? Did he listen to you and your child, as well as
explain what the procedures involve? Kids are very perceptive and their input is
vital, as patients are more compliant when they know, trust, and like their doctor.
Location, hours, reasonable and customary fees, comfortable fina
arrangements, and accessibility are important issues also. Ask other
the community including wur son or daughters friends and even teachers. Is
reception room dean, friendly, and comfortable? Did you have to watt at ail, Of
long for your appointment? Was the orthodontist on schedule? Was he friendly?

Can you receive a information packet about the office, 11 ire
philosophy? These are all important issues to consider.
)
Lastly and very important is select your orthodontist on who truly cares for
child. When you have interviewed your orthodontist and feel comfortable
they enjoy relationships with kids and will treat your son or daughter as if
were part of his own extended family or friends, then you have found your fami
orthodontist. )
