elay For Life is a 24-hour
event designed to support
cancer care and research.
It raise money, aware-
ness and support for the American
Cancer Society.
During the event, teams walk
around the track, fundraise and
support those who have been
touched by cancer. The American
Cancer Society helps those with all
types of cancer.

• Oak Park

The 24-hour walk will begin at 10
a.m. Saturday, June 5, and will be
held in Shepherd Park, at the corner
of Church and Northfield streets.
This is the first Relay for Life
in Oak Park and will include par-
ticipants from Huntington Woods,
Berkley, Southfield, Ferndale and
Pleasant Ridge. The City of Oak
Park is co-sponsoring the American
Cancer Society event in memory of
former Recreation Advisory Board
member Phil Cutler, who lost his
battle to cancer last year. Aida
Cutler, his wife of almost 50 years,
is co-chairing the race.
At least 24 teams and 10 sponsors
have registered for the event.

'nai B'rith's 28th annual Golf
Classic event will be held
at Wabeek Country Club in
Bloomfield Hills on Monday, June 7.
Proceeds will benefit and
strengthen our local BBYO and
Hillel on college campuses.
Also benefitting is Camp
Passport, an international pro-
gram that sponsors Israeli children
touched by terrorist attacks. Camp
Passport kids attend a camp expe-
rience at two B'nai B'rith summer
camps.
The cost for the Golf Classic is
$250. It includes 18 holes of golf,
a cart, complimentary range balls,
locker facilities, valet parking, a
continental breakfast lunch on the
course, and snacks and beverages
on the course, followed by an open
bar, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and

by cancer?
Join Team Temple Israel at the
West Bloomfield Relay For Life,
at West Bloomfield High School,
to honor those who have been an
inspiration and remember those
who battled bravely. Help "Light
It Up For A Cure" from noon on
Saturday, June 5 until 10 a.m. on
Sunday, June 6.
Temple Israel is seeking volun-
teers, helpful people are needed
to monitor the tent, sell wares
and take turns walking around the
track. Donors also are sought to
contribute to the American Cancer
Society. Visit the Temple Israel
website, www.temple-israel.org ,
and follow the link to Relay for Life.
You also can participate in the
event by purchasing a luminary bag
(minimum donation $10). Each bag
displays the name of an individual
you wish to honor or remember
(one name per bag). These bags
line the track all day and are lit at
dusk.

Non-golfers may attend the dinner
only for $40 and bid on both live
and silent auction items, (some
provided on consignment) by The
Sports Gallery in Birmingham.
Raffle tickets at $25 each are
being sold with the grand prizea
seven-night cruise for two plus
$500 cash. You need not be pres-
ent at the awards banquet to win.
Golf Classic co-chairs are
Michael Fishman, Ron Bittker and
David Lubin.
