Opera Theater and the DSO (Detroit
Symphony Orchestra);' Lauren Gross
said.
Her husband already is involved
there. "I spoke and sang on a pre-
concert lecture talk about chazzanut
and klezmer during the world pre-
miere of Wlad Marhulets' Concerto
for Klezmer Clarinet," he said.
"I feel as if whatever I do, I am
truly a shaliach tzibbur, a repre-
sentative of the synagogue to the
community. Being involved in the
greater community not only provides
personal and professional growth,
but also sheds a good light on Adat
Shalom."
Already he has forged a rela-
tionship with local cantors from
Conservative and Reform move-
ments.
Another hope is one that combines
both the cantor's immersion in music
and a passion for baseball.
"I look forward to one day sing-
ing the national anthem at a Detroit
Tigers game,' Gross said.
He already is looking forward,
planning a Yom HaShoah event for
next spring that will include a large
conglomerate of Jewish and non-
Jewish choirs.
Even with a hectic schedule
throughout the community, Gross
said, "I can't wait to wake up in the
morning to go to the shut"
The family is enjoying other
aspects of their life as well.
"What drew us to this area was the
warmth and friendliness of the Adat
Shalom community" Lauren Gross
said.
"Detroit is now our home and Adat
Shalom has helped to make our tran-
sition very smooth and easy."
Adds Daniel Gross, "We love it here.
We are very happy with our decision.

"An Evening of Song" will take
place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,
May 13, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue, Farmington Hills.
The event will include the
cantor's installation and a dairy
dessert reception.
