JNF To Fete Dave Bing,
L. Brooks Patterson
This year's Jewish National Fund
(JNF) Tree of Life Award Dinner will
honor Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks
Patterson.
The dinner will take place
Thursday, May 13 at the Townsend
Hotel, Birmingham.
The reception begins at 6 p.m.; the
dinner and program follows at 7 p.m.
The Tree of Life Award is a
humanitarian award presented by
JNF to individuals for outstanding
community involvement dedication
to the cause of American-Israeli
friendship and devotion to peace and
the security of human life. The award
recognizes leaders for achievements
and innovations in industry, govern-
ment and education.
"Jewish National Fund is very
important in my life and has been
since I was a little girl': said din-
ner honorary chair Florine Mark,
a former Tree of Life honoree and
president and chairman of Weight
Watchers, Farmington Hills. "We
always had a Blue Box in every room
of my house.
"We need JNF as much as they
need us."
"JNF's commitment to community
is an inspiration to people of all walks
of life," Bing said.
"Jewish National Fund's 100-plus
years of service are an example for
all',' Patterson said.

Shoah Remembrance
From County Officials
Amid the observance of Yom
HaShoah, Israel's Memorial Day, on
April 11, Oakland County officials
remembered the Holocaust and
encouraged the public to learn
about its history.
County commissioners Shelley
Goodman Taub and Marcia
Gershenson recently presented
a special proclamation to Steven
Schwartz, executive director of
the Holocaust Memorial Center
Zekelman Family Campus in
Oakland County.
The proclamation was on behalf
of the 25-member Oakland County
Board of Commissioners.
The cerermony took place at the
Holocaust Memorial Center, 28123
Orchard Lake Road, Farmington
Hills.
