Ben-Ezra is the co-founder
of Blingerz Rhinestone
Accessories for Shoes.

A graduate of Eastern Michigan
University, Amy started her career
early on as an entrepreneur owning an
aerobics studio in West Bloomfield. In
2007, Amy and her best friend, Lena
Schwartz, were playing with acces-
sories and decorating their kids' shoes.
They were spending hours putting
together rhinestone ornaments for the
rubber tips of sneakers like Converse
and Vans. Seeing how painstaking and
tedious this work was, Amy thought
there had to be an easier way to make
these cute acces-
sories and started
looking into
manufacturing
opportunities.
Today Amy
and Lena have
12 designs with
seven more on the
way. Currently,
they have their
product sold in
countless domestic
and international
locations. You
can check out
Blingerz at www.

myblingerz.com .
In her spare time, Amy enjoys
spending time with her husband and
three children. Amy is involved in
Federation's Community Connections
and Melton Jewish Education pro-
gramming.
She feels strongly about the come-
back of Southeast Michigan, especially
the Jewish community in Detroit. She
has purposely built her business here,
relying on local Jewish individuals.

LOOKING TO RELOCATE
TO MICHIGAN

are a few tips to make sure you are getting the best bang for your networking buck:

Never push a product or service;
networking is not about selling on the spot but
about building a relationship.

Networking can be a critical component in your job search and even play an important role while you are employed. There are many local network-
ing groups that you can join or attend as a guest. You may run into networking opportunities where you would least expect to during your day. Here

Practice a 30-second commercial about
what you do or what you are looking for so
that you sound polished when you are
speaking to someone.

Networking Do's and Don'ts:

Make sure to always have business cards
with you (or contact cards if you are currently
unemployed). You may even want a few copies
of your resume if you are looking for a job.

NOSH AND NETWORK
Tuesday, May 4, 8:30-9:30 a.m.

4. If you do receive a referral, always follow
up immediately; and it is always a nice gesture
to let the referral source know the outcome.

Always be presentable. Your appearance
conveys an instant message to others. What do
you want that message to be?

Volunteer. There are many nontraditional
ways to make new contacts and volunteering
can be a more natural form of meeting new

people.

7 Don't be shy. Even if you are an introverted
person by nature you need to step up to the
plate during a networking event or opportunity.
With the polish of having some practice under
your belt it will get easier.

"c_.% Don't expect quick results. Networking
can take several months or even years to do
successfully. These relationships that you are
making will take time to nurture. You may have
to give you card to the same person five times
before you have any meaningful contact. Don't

give up!
