A

nine-day auction on eBay
brought a winning bid of
$172.50 for the first pie
out of the oven at Jerusalem Pizza in
Southfield after Passover on April 6.
The amount — rounded up to $175
by the bidder — was donated to Yad
Ezra, the Berkley-based kosher food
pantry.

"I was glad to spend the money for
such a worthy organization," said Yoli
Silverstein of West Bloomfield, who
also purchased another eight pizzas
for his immediate family, saying, "We
are a big bunch:'
Brian Jacobs, Jerusalem Pizza
owner, came up with the auction
idea last year. "I enjoy being able to
donate and have fun doing," he said.
"As a longtime Detroiter, I know how
important it is to have a place like Yad
Ezra in our community."

n art show honoring the
artistic expression of
Oak Park resident Edith
Butrimovitz, who will soon be 89,
will run through May 9 at the Jewish
Community Center in Oak Park.

This retrospective of oil paintings
covers a body of work that began in
the 1960s and covers five decades.
Butrimovitz's influences are her deep
spirituality, a vibrant soul and her
overall joy of life.
