Obituaries

Boynton Beach, Fla.,
formerly of Detroit,
died March 24, 2010.
He was a phar-
macist and former
owner of Band Drugs
in
Detroit and Band
Band
Village Drugs in
Beverly Hills. He was also a pharmacist
in Florida. He was a member of the
American and Michigan Pharmaceutical
Association and Alpha Omega
Fraternity.
Mr. Band is survived by his daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Victor
Uzansky of Commerce Township,
Carolyn and Brian Schiff of West
Bloomfield; companion of 19 years,
Phyllis Cheiman, her children and
grandchildren; grandchildren, Benjamin
Uzansky, Ellie and Ava Schiff; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Allen Seel
of Bloomfield Hills, Beverly and Sheldon
Scharg of West Bloomfield, Sherry and
Michael Surnow of West Bloomfield;
brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Lois
Band of West Bloomfield; former wife,
Louise Band; nieces, nephews, grand-
nieces and grandnephews.
Interment at Nusach Harie Cemetery.

GERTRUDE BRAININ, 89, of West

Bloomfield, died March 20, 2010.
Gertrude graduated from Wayne
University and taught in Detroit for a
few years. Her husband built Cranbrook
Nursing Home in Detroit in 1958. She
ran the home following her husband's
death in 1962, until she sold it in 1985.
Gertrude traveled the world and made
her first of many visits to Israel in 1968.
She was a member of Temple Israel for
over 50 years and was very active in
sisterhood and was an usher. In addi-
tion, Gertrude was a member of Pioneer
Women and was a regional president
of ORT, where she won the "Woman of
Valor" award.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, David and Jacquelyn Brainin
of Columbus, Ohio; daughters and son-
in-law, Eleanor Brainin of Scarborough,
Maine, Laurel Hoffman and Ben Plotch
of Smithtown, N.Y.; grandchildren,
Jeremy (Ortal) Hoffman and Aaron
Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Yehudit
Rachel Hoffman and Yakir Yisrael
Hoffman; sister, Sylvia Goldberg.
Gertrude was the beloved wife of the
late Jerome Brainin and sister of the
late Mildred Shubow. Interment was

held at the Clover Hill Park Cemetery
in Birmingham. Contributions can
be made to Jewish Senior Life-The
Fleischman Residence/Blumberg Plaza.

BERNICE GREENSTONE CARMEN,

92, of Southfield, died March 30, 2010.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Mark Greenstone and
Linda Fortino of Bloomfield Twp., Paul
and Libby Greenstone of Bloomfield
Twp.; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce
and Clarice Simons of Phoenix, Ariz.;
sister, Joyce Scherb of Cleveland, Ohio;
grandchildren, Lia Giovanni, Jolie
Greenstone and Katie Greenstone; long-
time and cherished caregiver and com-
panion, Lenore Marshall; many loving
nieces, nephews, other family members
and friends.
Mrs. Carmen was the beloved wife
of the late Irving Carmen and the late
Warren D. Greenstone; sister-in-law of
the late William Scherb.
Interment at the Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery in Livonia. Contributions
may be made to the Alzheimer's
Association or to a charity of one's choice.

IDA ROSE CETRON, 96, of Oak Park,

died March 30, 2010.
She was in handcraft and clothing
sales.
Ms. Cetron is survived by her sister,
Elizabeth Seyburn of Florida; nieces
and nephews, Carol and Arnold Ager,
Larry and Miriam Goulson, Annette
and Howard Grossman, Joel Seyburn,
Dr. David and Robin Seyburn and their
children.
She was the loving sister of the late
David Cetron, the late Zella Goulson;
dear sister-in-law of the late Samuel
Seyburn and the late Arthur Goulson.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements by
Ira Kaufman Chapel.

MAX FRANK, 83, of Farmington Hills,

died March 29, 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Carole
Frank; sons, Joel Frank of Farmington
Hills, Barry Frank of New Mexico; daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Judy and Arnie
Goldman of Farmington Hills, Nancy
Frank of Farmington Hills; brother and
sister-in-law, Jack and Beverly Frank of
San Diego, Calif.; sister and brother-in-
law, Rose and Joshua Geller of Pittsburgh,
Pa.; grandchildren, Kyle Goldman, liana
Goldman, Marlee Goldman.
Mr. Frank was the loving brother
of the late Samuel Frank and the late
Bernadine Frank.
