Akiva Kids Honor
Their Grandparents

n March 12, bubbies, zaydies, sabas, savtas, aunts,
uncles and special friends of early childhood
students at Akiva Hebrew Day School in Southfield
were honored at a brunch.
This year's annual event was organized by Rosa Chessler,
Yoni Apap, Deb Kovsky-Apap, all of Southfield, and Lisa
Winer of Oak Park.
Guests arrived early in the morning and were treated to a
yummy bagel breakfast, a musical slide-show presentation
featuring each and every child in the Early Childhood
Center and a dvar Torah by Rabbi Eleazer Durden, assistant
principal.
The best part was being entertained by the children.
Accompanied by Galina Feldman on piano, students ages 2-
5 sang their Oneg Shabbat repetoire of songs. Following the
musical interlude, the children and their "special friends"
braided challahs and planted seeds to represent the seeds
of Torah that are being planted in each and every child.
