H

oping to exceed the dona-
tion of last year's inaugural
fundraising endeavor,
Jerusalem Pizza will repeat an innova-
tive offer to benefit Yad Ezra.
Again, the restaurant will auction
off the first pizza out of the oven after
Passover ends the evening of Tuesday,
April 6. The entire purchase price will
be donated to Yad Ezra kosher food
pantry in Berkley.
Hundreds of pizza orders are taken
in the few hours after the holiday ends,

with the first one sought after by those
who gave up the popular meal item
along with other chametz (leaven not
eaten on Passover) during the holiday.
Bidding for the 14-inch, large
cheese pizza — available at the store's
Southfield location — will begin at 99
cents with the hope that it will exceed
last year's winning donation of $202.50.
The store, which usually sells every-
thing from calzones, soup and tuna
salad to bagels, salads and cookies,
will make only pizzas that night and
will stay open until orders stop corn-
ing in — hours after the pickup of the
winning first pizza. E

To bid on the first pizza baked at Jerusalem Pizza in Southfield after
Passover ends, Tuesday, April 6, access the Web site at ebay.com from
Friday, March 26-Sunday, April 4. Bid on auction item 320504081430.
