Dr. Glenn Treisman, a professor at Johns Hopkins University Medical School and Hospital, has received the Russo Award from the city of Baltimore. The native Detroiter is the son of Dr. Edward and Elaine Treisman of Bloomfield Hills and a University of Michigan graduate. Treisman is a professor of internal medicine, psychiatry and behav- ioral science and director of the AIDS Psychiatry Service. He earned the 2009 Russo Award "for his dedicated and compassionate service to low-income individuals and families." Daniel Iwrey, son of Carolyn and Howard Iwrey of West Bloomfield, recently starred as "Seymour" in Little Shop of Horrors, produced by the Tulane University Musical Theater Deparment. Iwrey, a 2008 graduate of West Bloomfield High School, is a sophomore at Tulane in New Orleans, majoring in musical theater and economics. Hey, You Never Know, a new book by Robert Newman, who was born and raised in Detroit, is now available. Newman incorporates personal expe- riences into his writing. Keren IL McGinity had her book cho- sen as a finalist for the 2009 National Jewish Book Award in the category of Women's Studies. McGinity, author of Still Jewish: A History of Women and Intermarriage in America, is the Mandell L. Berman Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Contemporary American Jewish Life at the University of Michigan Frankel Center for Judaic Studies. Her book examines the intersection of intermar- riage and gender across the 20th centu- ry, describing the lives of Jewish women who intermarried while placing their decisions in historical context. Rachel Goutman, daughter of Ida and Louis A. Goutman of Commerce Township, was named to the dean's list at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., for academic achievement dur- ing the fall 2009 semester.
