Religious School Offer?

Eight Over Eighty Named
Jewish Senior Life of Metropolitan
Detroit's 2010 Eight Over Eighty honor-
ees are Judith Cantor, Frances Fischer,
Edie Resnick, Rochelle Sable, Dr. Hershel
Sandberg, Betty Starkman, Leonard
Trunsky and Harvey Weisberg.
Eight Over Eighty and the Tikkun
Olam Award is now in its 17th year and
raises money for the Jewish Senior Life
Quality of Life Fund benefiting residents
of all JSL residences.
The event honors eight senior adults,
80 years or older, who have dedicated
their time, talents and lives to the Jewish
community. Each year, the honorees are
selected by a panel of judges from com-
munity nominations.
Eight Over Eighty will take place
on Sunday, May 16, at the Jewish
Community Center in West Bloomfield.
Tickets go on sale April 1 and are $80 for
adults and $40 for children.
The Detroit Jewish News is media
sponsor of the event.

Dancing With Dads
The Men's Club of Adat Shalom
Synagogue will hold its sixth annual
"Dancing with the Dads" on Sunday,
March 14. Daughters, ages 3-13, and their
dads and granddads will dance from 5 to
7:15 p.m.
The evening includes dancing, pizza, a
special commemorative photo and com-
plimentary boutonnieres and corsages
for all pre-registered participants.
There is a $10 per person charge for
Adat Shalom families paid in advance,
$13 in advance for non-members or $15
per person at the door.
Chairing the program are Brad
Feldman of Farmington Hills and
Michael Weil of West Bloomfield.

to the Men's Club of Adat Shalom to

Book Fair Concert
Temple Israel in West Bloomfield will
host the Swingset Mamas at the Passover
Scholastic Book Fair noon-1 p.m.
Tuesday, March 23, Reservations are
required. Children must be accompanied
by an adult

Business Connect
On Wednesday morning, March 17,
business coach Dawn Drozd will speak
at a breakfast meeting of CSZ Business
Connect at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield. Her topic is "How to Increase
Your Profits by 60%:'
Drozd is an award-winning business
coach from ActionCoach as well as a pro-
fessional speaker/trainer. CSZ Business
Connect is a mixed business group for
those who wish to network and keep up
to date on the current business climate.
This public event will be held from 8-
9:30 a.m. There is a $5 fee for continental
breakfast (cash only), which can be paid

JCC Travel
The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit's Center Travel will
host three trips this month.
On Wednesday, March 24, join Center
Travel for Good, which examines Hitler's
rise to power through the eyes of a pro-
fessor, at 2 p.m. at the Hilberry Theatre,
Detroit. The cost is $40 for Center mem-
bers and $50 for non-members.
At 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 26,
Center Travel will host a trip to the
Coffee Concert at the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra, with music by Schumann,
Bach and Beethoven. The cost is $52 for
Center members and $62 for non-mem-
bers.
The third trip takes guests to "Sleeping
Beauty,' performed by the Tchaikovsky
Ballet Company of Russia, at the Detroit
Opera House at 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
March 27. The cost is $65 for Center
members and $75 for non-members.

OU's Pesach Standard
The annual OU Guide to Passover, a
special issue of Jewish Action, the family
magazine of the Orthodox Union, is out.
There are new features with photos
accompanying them. The heart of the
Guide lists food and other products certi-
fied kosher for Passover by the OU.
The Guide discusses halachot (laws)
of dealing with the sick, elderly and
small children; basic frequently asked
questions on Passover; Passover recipe
substitutes; and a primer on koshering
common items around the house.
