hen Lisa Korotkin Rothberger wanted a
disk jockey for her wedding at Temple
Beth El in Bloomfield Township last
November, her father, Ken Korotkin, knew immediately who to
call: Joe Cornell Entertainment.
"I like to work with people who are happy to work with me,"
says Korotkin, whose daughters attended Joe Cornell sixth-
grade dance classes and chose Joe Cornell DJs for their bat
mitzvahs. "The folks at Joe Cornell try to please not only me
but my children as well. No matter what's needed, they have a
smile on their face and make the parties great."
Founded in 1957, Joe Cornell Entertainment is the original
dance class and DJ company in Metro Detroit. Created by the
company's charismatic namesake, the tradition of home-grown
excellence grew after Joe Cornell sold the business in 1991 to

brother-sister team Steve Jasgur and Rebecca Schlussel.
Joe Cornell entertainers are experts at making b'nai mitz-
vahs, Sweet Sixteens, weddings, school parties and other events
lively, fun and easy. "Our focus is always on the guest of honor
— not on us," says Jasgur, who began entertaining in high
school.
"Our entertainers are devoted to creating a buzz around the
person of honor and their family," says Schlussel. "You'll never
see Joe Cornell promos at a party — it would detract from the
guest of honor's special celebration."
Joe Cornell entertainers bring a contagious energy and
enthusiasm. At Leah Reed's Dec. 5 bat mitzvah at the Townsend
Hotel in Birmingham, even the boys danced — something that
