Ti Family Focus 248•352•7377 ‘AONG FINE CHINESE DINING "A wonderful adventure in fine dining" — Danny Raskin eremy Sherman of West Bloomfield has just been ihill elected to serve as the international president (Grand Aleph Godol) of BBYO's young men's divi- sion, Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA). Sherman was elected to the board of the worldwide pluralistic Jewish teen movement in front of more than 800 teen leaders at Jeremy BBYO's International Sherman Convention last month in Dallas. Sherman, who will graduate this spring from West Bloomfield High School, will defer his first year of college to spend the 2010-11 term mentoring leadership skills and help- ing teens create programming. He'll also represent teens at major corn- munal gatherings and encourage teen involvement in the broad spectrum of Jewish life. "Being elected as Grand Aleph Godol has been the result of four remarkable years of growth in leader- ship, Jewish identity and self-empow- erment," said Jeremy, son of Fanny and Jeffrey Sherman. "My journey to this point would not have been possible without the guid- ance, support and inspiration of all the people in my life." Sherman, a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek of Oakland County, has been actively involved with BBYO's Michigan Region for four years. "Jeremy has already made such a significant impact in our commu- nity," said Eric Adelman, director of Michigan Region BBYO. "He is a leader who has a vision of what Jewish teens can do and the abil- ity to inspire his peers to achieve it!' Said Jeremy, "Throughout the last four years, I have realized that BBYO allows me to voice my opinion and truly make a difference in the world around me. "It is my hope that during my year as president I will be able to inspire Alephs across the order and continue strengthening every aspect of this great organization."
