Our Jewish Future
I saw the IN's January Teen2Teen
section and felt compelled to
write to thank you and simply
to kvell over Akiva senior Ruthie
Lehmann's beautiful picture and
essay ("A Matter Of Innocence;' Jan.
21, TT1).
I realize, of course, that as her
teacher, I am only slightly less
biased than a parent, but her sensi-
tive, articulate voice touched me
deeply. I know that I speak for all
of her teachers when I say that I
am proud to have played a role in
her education.
Thank you for providing a venue
for our gifted, intelligent young
Jewish men and women to express
themselves as well as to learn
firsthand the thrill of seeing one's
cherished thoughts in print. These
writers and thinkers represent the
future of the Jewish community.
May God grant that Ruthie and
her peers will one day serve as
catalysts to bring the blessings of
tikkun olam [repair of the world].
