ORT Michigan hires new
top professional.

N

icole Muchnick recently
became director of
ORT America Michigan

"Never have I
seen such a com-
mitted group of
individuals who
work so hard to
raise funds and
awareness for an
organization that
Nicole
they so fervently
Muchnick
believe in:' says
Muchnick, a West
Bloomfield resident.
"I am very confident, based
upon her excellent achievements
as former Rub-a-Dub coordina-
tor, that Nicole will bring her
energy, commitment and vision
as our new director, to propel the
Michigan Region to even greater
levels of fundraising and visibility:'
said Beverley Katz, ORT American
Michigan Region co-president with
Keith Lublin.
ORT America supports a global
network of schools and training
programs in 63 countries. More than
3 million people have graduated
from ORT programs. The Michigan
Region office is located at 6735
Telegraph Road in Bloomfield
Township.
"I expect that our impressive
Hermelin ORT Resource Center,
located right here in our commu-
nity, as well as all the other ORT
programs we support, will benefit
greatly from the drive and excep-
tional administrative skills we
expect from Nicole Katz said.
Muchnick grew up in subur-
ban Detroit, graduated from the
University of Michigan and earned
a law degree from New York Law

School. She practiced law in New
York City before returning to
Michigan.
Before accepting this position,
Muchnick worked tor a local law
firm and coordinated events for Star
Trax and for ORT as a consultant.
For five years, she was the lead coor-
dinator for Rub-a-Dub, the largest
local fundraiser for ORT America
Michigan Region every year.
Taking a full-time position
with the organization continues
Muchnick's dedication to a cause
that resonates with her at the core.
"When I think about what is
important to me, I think about giv-
ing my kids everything possible
so they can be whatever they want
to be, so they can become success-
ful, productive citizens and achieve
their dreams:' says Muchnick, who
is married to Robert Muchnick,
a law partner with Detroit-based
Honigman, Miller, Schwartz & Cohn.
They have two children.
"ORT offers the highest level of
education and training to those who
otherwise would not be able to help
themselves:' said Muchnick. "ORT
gives people the tools to improve
their lives. ORT gives opportunities."
As part of her job, Muchnick
works closely with Shaindle
Braunstein-Cohen, director of the
David B. Hermelin ORT Resource
Center in West Bloomfield. The
center is a local example of
ORT's educational efforts world-
wide. It is located in the D. Dan
and Betty Kahn Building of the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
"Nicole brings an enthusiasm to
the organization that is contagious
and a new energy to our program,"
said Braunstein-Cohen. ❑
