famous Book brothers. The edifice was the tallest
building in Detroit and the tallest hotel in the world
at its completion in 1924. "We chose it because we
wanted something different," says Melissa. "We loved
the idea of the hotel and what it meant to the city of
Detroit. It had 21st-century amenities, with early 20-
century elegance."
The priority, however, was to have a warm, elegant
and fun wedding. "We wanted it to be a reflection
of us, our love and the joining of our families," says

Melissa. Although she had help from wedding plan-
ner DeeDee Hoffman, Melissa did most of the work
— and the result was the wedding of her dreams. "I
loved that it looked so elegant went you walked into
the Italian Garden room for the ceremony and the
Venetian Ballroom for the reception," she says. "I had
Chiavari chairs, chargers, menu cards, white glove
service. But then once the M80's started playing, you
knew that you were there to have fun. Everyone was
on the dance floor the entire night, including us!"

"We chose the Book Cadillac before
it was even finished; we fell in love
with the pictures of the room," says
Melissa. "Our first time there, we
were wearing hard hats and looking
at a bunch of concrete, and then to
see it the day of our wedding was
incredible. We loved the high ceil-
ings and windows, the balconies and
the convenience for our guests to
