Want gorgeously detailed invitations, impeccable in
grammar and etiquette? The same kind Zac Posen and
Diane von Furstenberg each used for benefit events?
Something that's tasteful but says 21st century, plus fits
the budget bill? Paperless Post, which was founded in
2008 by brother and sister James and Alexa Hirschfeld
when just shy of their 23rd and 25th birthdays, respec-
tively, is your answer. The online venture acts as a custom
stationer, allowing clients to design, send and track elec-
tronic invitations (or save the dates, thank-you notes and
more) that are as sophisticated as cardstock, and offer all
the tools you need to communicate exquisitely and effi-
ciently. Create your invitation, click send, and your guests
open their inbox to see a hyper-real envelope with their
name printed on it that reverses to the sender's name
on the back, then out pops the invitation, so detailed
you can see the paper's grain; they can click RSVP, and
they're done. Choose paper, design, motifs, fonts, colors,
even suggested wording — all is interactive, all is intui-
tive, and for those not hung up on ephemera, all is good.
Debuting this month: personal stationery, which will
allow users to write personal notes on stationery they
create themselves. Membership is free; 250 e-mail invita-
tions might cost around $10, depending on the options
you choose. Paperlesspost.com

Like any good manager,
Carolyn Hefner keeps an eye
on the smallest detail while
simultaneously ensuring those
details come together to form
an organized and cohesive
whole. Make that a joyous,
memorable and picturesque
whole — after all, Carolyn
doesn't operate in the cor-
porate world, she operates
in the world of weddings
(and other events, of course).
Through the China Closet, she offers a wide range of
