He was the son of the late Leo and the late Ruth Blackwood of Detroit. He leaves behind close friends in Nevada and will be remembered by lifelong friends in Detroit. JOSEPH BUCHSBAUM, 88, of West Bloomfield, died Jan. 7, 2010. He was the owner of a hardware store and car wash. He was also an Army sergeant in Alaska during World Buchsbaum War II and was a mem- ber of B'nai B'rith's bowling league. Mr. Buchsbaum is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janise and John Sloan of West Bloomfield; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bruce and Mary Kay Buchsbaum of Iowa; grandchildren, Alicia and Steven Sleight, Michael Sloan, Kyle Sloan, Joshua, Sean and Nathan Buchsbaum. He was the blessed husband of the late Mary Rebecca Buchsbaum; the loving brother of the late Alfred Buchsbaum and the late Ernst Buchsbaum; the dear brother-in-law of the late Rosemary Buchsbaum and the late Mary Buchsbaum. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. STEVEN JAY FINKEL, former Detroiter of Fishers, Ind., the light and love of his wife, Tracy's life, died Jan. 4, 2010. He was the kindest, smartest, funni- est, most generous, honorable and loving man. His heart ached at the thought that he wouldn't be able to see his fabulous daughter Tylar grow into adulthood. The sadness and loss is deeply felt by his adoring sisters, Diane and Terri; his nephew, Marc; brother, Sunil; their spouses, and all other family, whether by birth or chosen. His girls, Sadie, Lily and Ruby, are devastated. It does take a village, and on this jour- ney, and throughout the family's lives together, they feel incredibly blessed with loving, compassionate villagers. Mr. Finklel was a mentor and teacher and changed people's lives wherever he went, with his subtle and supportive ways. A memorial will begin at 5 p.m., Jan. 14, at the Murat, 502 N. He was born in Detroit and moved to Clearwater in the mid 80s, where he lived his senior years with many friends. He owned a heating and cooling business and later retired as a contractor.
