of West Bloomfield, died Jan. 1, 2010.
He was a CPA and a past president of
B'nai David's Mr. & Mrs. Club.
Mr. Nathanson is survived by his wife
of 59 years, Corinne Nathanson; sons
and daughters-in-law, Jay and Marilyn
Nathanson, Michael and Suzanne
Nathanson of Connecticut, Gregg and
Sheryl Nathanson of Farmington Hills;
grandchildren, Amy, Sallie, Charles,
Rebecca, Dina, Sara, Andrew and Zoe;
brother-in-law, Harvey Tennen.

ELI E. ROBINSON, 83, formerly of
Michigan, died Dec. 30, 2009.
He was a World War II veteran. Mr.
Robinson was a graduate of City College
of New York and yhe University of

Michigan. He worked as a CPA and val-
ued business advisor. He was a founder
of Robinson, Pietras, Kalisky & Co. PC,
a former president of Southfield City
Council, a member of the founding com-
mittee of the University of Michigan
Alumni Association's Camp Michigania
and a life member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his
devoted wife, Zelda (Cohen); chil-
dren, Harriett (Keith Bruns) and Ellen
(Aaron) Krumbein; grandchildren,
Abby Krumbein, Rachel Krumbein, Ari
Krumbein, and Ethan Bruns; brother of
Jules Teck, Barbara (Bill) Schiffman and
Martha Lathrop. The family gives special
thanks to Dexter and Rudy Magale for
their heartfelt assistance.

ESTER L. ROSENTHAL, 87, of
Southfield, died Jan. 4, 2010.
She is survived by her beloved hus-
band, David Rosenthal; daughters and
sons-in-law, Susan and David Shevrin
of West Bloomfield, Paula and Nazeem
Noordeen of Cupertino, Calif.; grand-
children, Hanah and Rebecca Noordeen;
many loving nieces, nephews, other fam-
ily members and friends.
Interment at the Adat Shalom
Memorial Park Cemetery in Livonia.

DR. NORMAN
ROBERT SCHAKNE,
82, of Bloomfield Hills,
died Dec. 26, 2009.
Dr. Schakne was a
graduate of Riverside
Military Academy;
University of Michigan
Schakne
and Wayne State
University School of
Medicine. He completed his internship at
Sinai Hospital and completed his residen-
cy in psychiatry at Clinton Valley Hospital.
He was a founder of Oakland Mental
Health Associates and he had a general
practice of psychiatry for more than 46
years covering the Detroit TriCounty area
with an emphasis on emergency psychiat-
ric care.
Dr. Schanke served in the United
States Army during World War II in the
Occupation Troupes in Italy and was deco-
rated with a Victory Medal.
He was chief of staff at three psychiatric
