Honorable Senator Levin,

While you are focusing your energies on passing the health care bill, Iran announced that it is adding 10 more centrifuges to its aggressive, well-
advanced uranium enrichment process to acquire a nuclear bomb, launched a missile test and is reportedly working on a nuclear trigger device. As your
constituents and American citizens, we are gravely concerned by the cataclysmic threats posed by Iran.

Iran is the world's leading sponsor and exporter of terrorism, and can easily transfer nuclear materials and weaponry to terrorist organizations that it is
already sponsoring and financing, such as al Qaeda, Hezbollah and Hamas. These terrorists can deliver suitcases of dirty bombs anywhere in the world.
Iran has already established a terrorist beachhead in the tri-border region of South America and could arm sympathetic regimes such as Venezuela,
Nicaragua and Bolivia with nuclear weapons and technologies.

With its nuclear capabilities and advanced delivery systems, Iran and its terror proxies could threaten any country in the world including the United
States. Iran's race to acquire nuclear weapons will destabilize an already volatile Mideast, touching off a cascade of other countries, i.e., Syria, Turkey,
Egypt and Saudi Arabia, seeking to build their own nuclear arsenals.

It is upsetting to us as Americans and Jews that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran has brazenly repeated his goal to wipe Israel off the map.
History has taught us that we must take such genocidal madmen at their word. Iran has missiles that can reach Israel and Europe with nuclear warheads.
It's just a matter of time before Iran refines the delivery systems to reach our shores. What other evidence do you need to act now?

Your email response to our concerns last week explaining your position on Iran is unsatisfactory. You stated that you are supportive of diplomatic
negotiations through the United Nations and sanctions against Iran. So far, seven years of this activity has backfired as Iran sprints undeterred towards
nuclear capability. Mountains of documents discovered after the United States deposed the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq demonstrate that sanctions
did not work. Corrupt top officials at the UN and US trading partners, including allies such as France, as well as individual businessmen traded with
Iraq in the "Food for Oil" scandal in violation of UN sanctions. What makes you think that sanctions will work now? There are already cases of non-
compliance with the sanctions now on the books. What guarantees are there the US will stringently enforce sanctions when it has yet to do so? Besides,
without the full cooperation of such countries as China, Russia and India, sanctions are nothing more than a charade. Your response suggests that you are
resigned to the prospect that Iran will acquire nuclear weapons and the US will deal with it later. If our interpretation of your email is incorrect, please set
the record straight and let your constituents know precisely how you plan to block Iran's nuclear pursuits -- not with shallow rhetoric and promises, but
with substantive, effective action.

The U.S. Constitution says that the primary responsibility of the United States government is national security and the protection of its citizens. We find
it hard to stomach that Congress and the President are continuing to appease Iran with dead-end diplomacy and meaningless sanctions that buy time and
cover for a maniacal regime while an apocalyptic threat is hanging over the entire world.

As our senior US Senator from the State of Michigan, as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and as a senior Democratic senator, you
can leverage your influence and bring this issue to a head. We can no longer afford to have endless negotiations and endure the delay tactics by Iran. The
clock is ticking....the bomb is ticking.

The national fixation on health care has obscured what is clearly the most pressing issue of our time, stopping Iran before it reaches the point of no
return. Senator, this requires your immediate action. Your obligation to safeguard our national security trumps your allegiance to partisan politics! What
are you doing to protect America and Israel? What actions are you taking to stop Iran before it is too late?

You have the power to stop the health care debate in the Senate now and bring the Iranian threat to the forefront. You must stand up on the Senate
floor and declare that you will hold up the health care bill until the US government commits all its resources to stop Iran. Follow the example of US
Ambassador to the UN, Adlai Stevenson, who declared in 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis, that he was "prepared to wait for my answer until hell
freezes over" for the Soviet Union to admit that the missiles were in fact on Cuban soil and additionally en route to Cuba.

Iran has paid for the most advanced air defense system from Russia. The missiles are crated in Russia and ready to be shipped to Iran. Senator Levin, if
you are really serious about stopping Iran in its tracks, bold, decisive action is exigent. We expect you to exhibit strong leadership and moral fortitude
in standing up on the Senate floor to insist that the US blockade delivery of that system the same way that John F. Kennedy's administration blockaded
Soviet delivery of missiles to Cuba.

You have the power to influence the course of events to prevent Iran from furthering its Armageddon agenda. Halting Iran from acquiring a nuclear
bomb could be a proud legacy for your 30-year-plus political career, that will stay with your name forever. One senator could turn the tide of history and
save peace and freedom. To ignore Iran's nuclear quest, however, is to consign our childrens' fates to perils unknown. There is no middle ground; no time
left for equivocation.

Looking at history, the Western powers could have stopped Hitler before six million Jews and millions of others were slaughtered,
but failed to act in time. What will history say 60 years from now?

Respectfully,

Cheryl and Alex Goldis
