Michigan
University
Provost Jack
Kay is in demand as a speaker
and expert on white supremacist
groups. As part of his research,
he infiltrated a white suprema-
cist group in Wisconsin. While
Dr. Kay was brought to Ypsilanti
from the University of Michigan-
Flint for his administrative and
operational skills, this Tevye-
looking scholar is working in tan-
dem with President Susan Martin
to strengthen and expand Eastern
Michigan University's involve-
ment with the Detroit Jewish
community.
Ari & Chad Techner: While
the news media glare has been on
Tiger Woods for his prowess on
and off the golf course, Ari and
Chad Techner have been moving
their Scratch Golf club-making
business into the mainstream of
the professional golf world. The
brothers started with a grinding
wheel in a garage in 2003, seek-
ing to make the perfect wedge.
Now, with fawning reviews in
leading golf magazines and a deal
with rising Professional Golfers
Association (PGA) star Ryan
Moore, Scratch Golf wedges are
must haves" for more than 30
touring pros. The sons of Ilene
and David Techner, Ari and Chad
refined their golf games around
the greens and in the bunkers of
Franklin Hills Country Club.
