MATTHEW AARON WIRT, 34, formerly
of Essexville, Mich., died Dec. 15, 2009, in
his home in Bonney Lake, Wash.
He was born in Detroit Feb. 8, 1975,
and moved to Essexville in 1979 with his
parents Stephen and Dena Wirt.
In 1999, he moved out to the northwest
after completing two years at Northwood
University. His lifelong desire to work and
help people as an officer of the law was
fulfilled in 2002, as he was sworn into the
Auburn, Wash., police department. After
serving that department for close to four
years, he resigned and joined the Coast
Guard Reserve, while at the same time
delving into real estate and completing his
four years university degree. Eventually he
joined his friend Trapper O'Keefe in the
sushi restaurant business, becoming part-
ners in the existing restaurant and work-
ing together to open a new one. His energy
and love will be missed by all who had the
opportunity to know him.
Besides his parents, Mr. Wirt is sur-
vived by a brother, Daniel Wirt; grand-

parents, Jack and Alice Wirt; aunts and
uncles, Dr. Robert and Helen Lee, Doug
Wirt, Phyliss Jaffe, Julianna Jaffe; cous-
ins, Michelle and Doug Wexler, Josh
Lee, Liza Wirt and Natalie and Zach
Wexler; a family of loving friends in
Washington, Trapper O'Keefe, Kerri and
Keith Pederson, Trevor Burnan and Angie
Coates, Rick and Martien Harris.
He was preceded in death by his
grandparents Rubin and Judy Jaffe.
A service was held at Temple Israel
in Bay City. Contributions may be made
to the Make a Wish Foundation or the
Boys and Girls Club of Bay County.

BRYAN YOLLES, 60, of Greenwich,
Conn., formerly of Birmingham, died
Dec. 17, 2009, after a battle with cancer.
His passion and strength for life were
contagious, his humor addictive, and his
drive for excellence unstoppable. A lov-

ing husband and father,
marathon runner,
lawyer and advertising
executive, he will be
sorely missed.
Mr. Yolles received his
B.A. from the University
of Michigan Honors
Yolles
College, where he also
was an Angell Scholar, an M.A. in history
from Northwestern University and a J.D.
from Boston University School of Law.
In December 2007, Mr. Yolles joined
Universal McCann as the executive vice
president, chief growth officer. Prior to
joining UM, he was the executive vice
president, chief marketing officer of
Doner, the largest independent agency in
the U.S.
Before entering the ad business, Mr.
Yolles was a practicing attorney, special-
izing in banking and finance, interna-
tional trade, marketing and courtroom
litigation. He was an avid speaker and
writer in a wide variety of fields, includ-

ing authoring medical and legal articles
for such publications as the New England
Journal of Medicine and JAMA.
Mr. Yolles is survived by his wife,
Barbara; sister, the Honorable Chief Judge
Wendy Potts of Oakland County; two
children from his first marriage, James
and Andrew; two stepchildren, Zachary
and Michael Shaben; two children he had
together with Barbara, Alex and David;
mother, Reva Yolles Gertner.
He was the beloved son of the late Sol
Yolles; the loving brother of the late Beth
Jacobs.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
