ipson, Neilson, Cole, Seltzer
& Garin attorneys Steven
Cole and Stuart Logan
joined Automation Alley, Southeast
Michigan's largest technology busi-
ness association, in an October
trade mission to Israel and then met
with companies in Jordan in a trip
that exceeded their expectations.
"We received a warm reception
from various firms in both Israel
and Jordan and we are building
a network to facilitate business
between Michigan and Israel as well
as business between Michigan and
Jordan," said Cole, a Lipson Neilson
partner in the firm's Bloomfield
Hills office.
"We discussed the supportive
environment in Michigan for high-
tech businesses, alternative energy
and the film industry. We are opti-
mistic about the results of the mis-
sion and are already developing a
specific blueprint for future collabo-
ration with Middle East business
interests."
During the trade mission, Cole
and Logan met with medium and
large law and accounting firms as
well as businesses looking to gain
new opportunities for collaboration
in the U.S. They also discussed net-
working opportunities with Lipson
Neilson's contacts and clientele
based in Michigan and in Nevada.
The mission to Jordan by Cole and
Logan, which was separate from the
Automation Alley agenda, was spe-
cifically designed by the firm to take
advantage of already established
connections.
Past Automation Alley trade mis-
sions have resulted in the creation of
more than 200 jobs while generating
$140 million in export sales, invest-
ment and economic development for
Southeast Michigan.
The Israel mission included
Barron Industries Inc. (Oxford);
Lawrence Technological University
(Southfield); RazorThreat Inc.
(Pontiac); Doug Smith, Oakland
County deputy county execu-
tive; and Stephen Cassin, Macomb
County Department of Planning and
Economic Development executive
director.
