Survivor Cookbook
The Holocaust Survivor Cookbook,
a compilation of 129 miraculous
stories of survival and more than
250 family recipes, recently reached
a milestone of 25,000 books sold.
"This has allowed us to raise
over $450,000 for charities:' said
cookbook creator Joanne Caras of
Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The Caras family is donating all
of the profits from every cookbook
sold to charity "Our primary chari-
ty is the Carmei Ha'ir Soup Kitchen
in Jerusalem," Caras said. "Because
of our cookbook, they are able to
feed 500 poor people every day."
Caras is starting work on a
second volume of the cookbook
and is seeking more entries from
Holocaust survivors. Entries should
follow the same format by includ-
ing a brief story about surviving
the Holocaust, a family recipe, a
wartime photo and a current photo
with family or celebrating life. Send
the information to survivorcook-
book@aol.com or mail it to Joanne
Caras, P.O. Box 9017, Port St. Lucie,
Fla. 34985. Copies of the Holocaust
Survivor Cookbook can be pur-
chased at www.survivorcook.org .
