When you

your bank's

do you think
they know yours?

Our Mission

Our mission is to develop
and maintain banking
relationships with
customers who truly
value exceptional service.

THOUGHTS THAT ECHO

Giving Thanks from page 12

We believe that there's a need for a real
community bank in Oakland County – a bank
where the directors, shareholders, and employees
all live in the same area as our customers.
We've created a bank where customers can
come in at any time and talk face to face
with the people who make decisions, not get
forwarded to bureaucratic loan committees in
remote locations.

young men who are bright, responsible
and motivated. They know that life is
sometimes not without challenges, but
they also know the value of kindness,
compassion and the benefit of a strong,
supportive network. Although health
challenges are exactly that, I know we
are stronger than we think we are; and
the ability to find and express gratitude
is probably the greatest gift of all."

"In these trying times of job losses,
layoffs and paycuts, I appreciate the
opportunity to reflect on all for
which I have to be grateful. As
a 52-year-old, two-time breast
cancer survivor with two incredi-
bly wonderful sons and a supportive
husband, needless to say, I have much
gratitude.
"I am grateful to the doctor who,
nine years ago, strongly urged me to
repeat a biopsy despite the negative test
results. I am, of course, grateful that
both times my cancer was caught
early and was treatable. I am grate-
ful to the very dear friends who
insisted on accompanying me to che-
motherapy, brought dinners for family,
carpooled for inane hockey games and

"Wherever he goes, someone in our
small community inevitably asks my
dad [Robert Weltman] how business is.
He responds with his trademark truth
and bluntness: Business is terrible.
`But why focus on the negatives?' he
asks. `My kids are doing well and Robyn
and I are happy. Life is good as far as
I'm concerned.' Family, in other words
— not the bottom line — is the metric
by which my dad evaluates his success
in the world.
"Dad, you are a wonderful father.
