He was born on April 21, 1931, and spent his first nine years in Ypsilanti before moving to Detroit. He was a charter member of the Seymour Sobel 661 AZA Chapter. Mr. Halpern graduated Central High School in 1949, earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1952 and his law degree from U-M in 1955. He prac- ticed at the Honigman law firm in Detroit with I. Goodman Cohen before moving to L.A., where he became an expert in insurance law. Mr. Halpern is survived by his wife, Eleanore; daughters, Sheryl Mascorro and Gail Barden; brother, Daniel Halpern; sister, Barbara Levin; grandchildren, Jacklyn and Nicole Mascorro. He was the son of the late Esther and the late Ben Halpern. Interment at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, Simi Valley, Calif.
