different alley.

Unlacing their Pumas and Nikes and replacing them with reddish-green
bowling shoes was Akiva students' first task on this Tuesday morning during
the high school bowling trip. Other challenges during the bowling adventure
at Hartfield Lanes in Berkley included matching the bowling scores of the
student council president or vice president for a monetary reward and beating
the high score of Jeff Schindler, Akiva teacher and experienced bowler.
Akiva sophomore Madi Spalter tied with student council president Michal
Wrotslaysky's score. Also, freshman David Brystowski was the only one to
beat Schindler's high score.
Although bowling is not a typical school activity, it was a unique learning
experience for everyone. Aside from witnessing each student's bowling talents
(or lack thereof), the students were exposed to learning outside the classroom.
Being randomly assigned to different teams, students interacted with kids in
other grades in a different type of learning environment. Even teachers partici-
pated in this fun event run by the student council.
Who knew Rabbi Yechiel Morris and Rabbi Mordechai Katz were such
talented bowlers? When the students returned to school after three hours of
bowling fun, they
were greeted with ice
cream sundaes, com-
plete with fudge, car-
amel, chocolate chips,
whipped cream and
multiple ice cream
flavors. This bowl-
ing trip is one of the
many student council
programs planned for
this year. On this very
special Tuesday, Aki-
va bowled a perfect
game.
