composers sought.
Make this December one to remember with some of the best values of the year,
T
he Guild of Temple
Musicians is seeking
applicants for its Young
Composers Award (YCA) 2010.
Composition requirements include:
•A song cycle for solo and piano: a
set of three pieces related in thought
and character, performable as sepa-
rate pieces or as a unit, with or with-
out narrator. The work should be of
approximately 12 minutes duration.
It should be entirely in Hebrew, using
texts from Jewish liturgy (Shabbat,
festivals, High Holidays or a combi-

to include congregational responses if
the composer so wishes.
• Scores must be legibly copied

and contain all necessary dynamics,
tempi, etc. (chorded "charts" or tapes
are unacceptable). The composer's
name should appear only on the first
page of the score.

than one entry in any given year. New
submissions may be sent to future
YCA competitions, but no candidate
may win the award more than twice.
• Submitted pieces must have been
written no earlier than one year
before the submission date and be
unperformed as well as unpublished.
