Frank's diary into Arabic, issued a state-
ment condemning Hezbollah's "intimi-
dation campaign:'
The American Gathering of Jewish
Holocaust Survivors denounced what it
called a disgraceful act as a "twin blow
against decency. It is a blatant expression
of Holocaust denial and an assault on
one of the great works of modern litera-
ture and civilization:'
This marks the second time in a
month that Hezbollah has pressured
a school into censoring information it
dislikes. In October, the International
College, one of Lebanon's most
renowned private schools, agreed to put
opaque stickers over pages of a textbook
that named Hezbollah, Hamas and
Islamic Jihad as terrorist organizations.

Jewish Vigilantism
Jerusalem/JTA A West Bank rabbi
has written a book that says Jews can
kill non-Jews who threaten Israel. Rabbi
Yitzhak Shapira of the West Bank settle-
ment of Yitzhar released the book on
Nov. 9.
Shapira, head of the Od Yosef Chai
Yeshiva, also said in The King's Torah
that it is permissible to kill children if
they pose a threat, Ha'aretz reported.
The book is based on Bible quotations
to which Shapira has added his own
opinions.
The King's Torah was released shortly
after the announcement of the arrest of
an alleged Jewish terrorist who admitted
to killing Palestinians and attacks on
messianic Jews and left-wing Jews.

Obama's Jewish Family Tie
Washington/JTA President Obama's
half-brother has a Jewish mother.
Mark Ndesandjo is the product of
Barad( Obama Sr:s marriage to his third
wife, Ruth Nidesand, a Jewish American,
the Associated Press reports.
Ndesandjo recently authored a semi-
autobiographical story Nairobi to
Shenzhen, in which he revealed that his
father had a drinking problem and was
often physically abusive.

throughout the United States by ADL
and Hillel.
"This is not a First Amendment issue;
newspaper editors routinely choose to
accept or reject advertisements," said
Abraham Foxman, ADL national director
and a Holocaust survivor. "Would editors
publish ads claiming the world is flat or
that slavery never existed?"
The joint ADL-Hillel guide was devel-
oped in response to a series of campus
newspaper advertisements placed by
Bradley Smith and his Committee
for Open Debate on the Holocaust
(CODOH). In his 2009 campaign, Smith
successfully placed advertisements in
more than a dozen campus papers, with
an ad most recently appearing in the
Harvard Crimson.
Fighting Holocaust Denial provides
historical background on Holocaust
denial and a profile of Smith and the
CODOH. It offers actionable strategies
for responding when Holocaust denial
ads are published.
ADL and Hillel recommend that
editorial staffs develop policies defining
acceptable advertising standards, such
as those maintained by the newspaper
industry.

The Charge
French foreign minister Bernard
Kouchner last week criticized
Israel for what he called its lack of
desire for peace, saying that Israel's
"aspiration for peace has disap-
peared:'

The Answer
Contrary to Kouchner's views,
and in spite of Palestinian terror-
ist attacks, llamas and Hezbollah
rocket attacks and Iranian threats,
the majority of Israelis still sup-
port negotiations, are willing to
take risks for peace and are accept-
ing of the eventual establishment
of a Palestinian state.
