Hospital Presents Mind,
Body, Nutrition Forum
Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital clinical
dietitian Jennifer Traub will present
"Mind, Body and Nutrition:' a Jewish
Book Fair Health Awareness Day
program on Friday, Nov. 13. Her pre-
sentation will focus on eating the right
foods to prevent and combat illness,
especially for individuals being treated
for cancer.

The program, which is free and
open to the public, will be held at 1
p.m. in the Jewish Community Center's
Janice Charach Art Gallery in West
Bloomfield immediately following a
healthy cooking demonstration.
"An important part of our hospital's
mission is to educate the community
about good health habits and to be a
resource for those seeking high-qual-
ity health care,' said Lynn Torossian,
hospital president.
Health Awareness Day at the West
Bloomfield JCC includes presenta-
tions by Libby Znaimer, author of
Cancerland: Living Well Is the Best
Revenge; Sue Halpern, author of
Can't Remember What I Forgot; and
David Kessler, M.D., former com-
missioner of the U.S. Food and Drug
Administration.
Following Halpern's presentation,
Ilene Beninson, the hospital's Krieger
Senior Services Center social worker,
will answer audience questions about
local resources and testing sites for
memory loss.
Support Forgotten Harvest
For many, the pressure to prepare
dishes for holiday guests causes a great
deal of stress. Whole Foods Market's
Troy, West Bloomfield and Rochester
Hills locations are holding events to
offer tips and help them out: Thursday,
Nov. 12, 4-8 p.m. at Whole Foods
Market locations at: 2880 W. Maple
Road, Troy; 7350 Orchard Lake Road,
West Bloomfield; and 2918 Walton
Blvd., Rochester Hills.
The events benefit Forgotten
Harvest, a Southfield-based nonprofit
that works to relieve hunger in the
Metro Detroit community by rescuing
and donating food to emergency food
providers. Guests will have the oppor-
tunity to sample the stores' catering
menu holiday fare and learn what
wines pair well with each dish.
Representatives of Forgotten
Harvest will be at each store. The $10
entry fee for the event is waived if par-
ticipants purchase and donate items
from a list provided by the charity.
