Joyce Sherman came to Hebrew
Free Loan as the result of a chance
meeting with the agency's then-
president, Henry Lee, who recruited
her to the Board. Since that time,
she has served HFL in many ways,
including the committee for Jewish
Education Loan Service (JELS).
Joyce enjoys meeting and getting
to know students and their families
whenever possible, and helping
them attain their goals. "JELS is
wonderful, but there are so many
Jewish students who don't know
these interest-free loans exist,"
Joyce says, adding that bringing in
new dollars and expanding the
program would benefit many local
families who are searching for
options for their children's education.
Joyce works tirelessly to assist
those who approach HFL for loans.
"Once you meet people, you get to
know them and see what you can't
see on a paper application. I like
people, and I like to help when I can."
Hebrew Free Loan is proud to
congratulate Joyce Sherman
on being named a
Shalom Street Mitzvah Hero.
