Joan Rivers chats with Platinum.

She's been described as a "force of nature"

and, at age 76, comedienne extraordinaire
JOAN RIVERS is still unstoppable. The

internationally renowned humorist, actress,

author and television talk-show host also has
taken turns as a playwright, screenwriter,

director, columnist, lecturer, jewelry designer

and cosmetics company entrepreneur. Her
illustrious showbiz career dates back to the

1950s. "I'm so lucky because my work is

my hobby," Rivers said. "I'm one of those

lucky ones. I love what I do." Outside of
work, Rivers' greatest loves include her

daughter, Melissa, and grandson, Cooper,

8. This past year, she and Melissa starred

together on NBC's hit reality series The
Celebrity Apprentice (Joan came out on

top, besting the competition). Rivers also
continues to entertain live audiences with her irreverent, unconventional brand of humor. She'll be

in Metro Detroit Nov. 14 for a show at Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren. "It's a throwback to

the old supper clubs; I just love it because of that," Rivers said. "The show is very current. We talk

about Whitney Houston, we talk about Amy Winehouse; it's just about everything that's happen-
ing." Rivers' signature question is, "Can we talk?" Here, we ask Joan Rivers our version of the Four
Questions.

But, seriously, the book that I adore
is Marie Therese, Child of Terror by
Susan Nagel. It's a biography of Marie

through it all.

2. IF YOU COULD HAVE
BRUNCH WITH ONE
BIBLICAL OR HISTORICAL
JEWISH FIGURE, WHO
WOULD IT BE?

Methuselah (the oldest person in the
Bible, said to have lived to be 969
years old). He'd be the same age as
me, so we'd have a lot to talk about.
Really, I would have brunch with any-
one from the Bible, except for Lot's
wife — because I'm on a low-sodium
diet. (As the story goes, Lot's wife

the bad times will go, and things will
be good again, so go through them.
And the good times, enjoy them, you
idiot, because they're not gonna last.

4. WHAT WOULD PEOPLE
BE SURPRISED TO KNOW
ABOUT YOU?

My parents (Russian immigrants)
were actually Conservative Jewish
people until the day I was born. They
took one look at me and decided there
was no God.
