Hermelin Center Inspires
Twice now our efforts at the Hermelin
Brain Tumor Center have been
featured on the front page of the IN
with wonderful stories of hope within
the text, the most recent "Ten Years of
Hope" (Sept. 24, page 11).
We all loved David Hermelin and
what he meant to us as a culture
and as individuals. I, and my team,
are particularly blessed to carry his
name as our efforts to provide his
family and our center with a legacy
they both deserve.
I've heard many comments
about the Sept. 24 article, but most
important have been those who
have voiced renewed hope for their
or their own family's trials and
tribulations.
With hope comes quality of life,
if not quantity — and hopefully
both. You have added to this quality
in my mind.

Rush To Self-Destruction?
In the Oct. 15 JN, two letters on
page 6 struck me as important.
One was David Arm's letter,
"Strange Question." (Excerpt:
"When will we Jews take our rights
as axiomatic? When will we cease to
infect our next generation with this
same pathology? The Land of Israel
and the city of Jerusalem belong to
us for eternity.")
The other was Harry Onickel's
letter, "Exposing J Street" (Excerpt:
"J Street, in inviting Salam Al-
Marayati to be a speaker at its
upcoming conference, clearly dem-
onstrates that it is working diligently
against Israel and the best interests
of the Jewish community").
Both writers expose a serious
problem in the Jewish community
— the Jewish people's rush toward
self-destruction because of the apa-
thy of most Jews not studying the
issues and not advocating for Israel
and the Jewish people and others
that work for and encourage our
enemies.
