their daughter Julie Cohen to Brad Silva, son
of JoAnn and Louis Silva of Northbrook,
Ill. Julie is the granddaughter of Lawrence
Cohen of Cave Creek, Ariz.
Julie graduated from Michigan State
University in East Lansing with a degree in
family and community services. She also
graduated with a master's degree from Loyola
University Chicago's School of Social Work.
Brad graduated from Tulane University in
New Orleans, La., with a degree in psychology
and cognitive studies. He also graduated from George Washington University Law
School in Washington, D.C. Julie and Brad met in Chicago and live and work there.
A June 2010 wedding is planned in West Bloomfield.

engagement of their children Amanda Bree
and Matthew Gordon.
They met in New York City for the first
time despite growing up in Farmington Hills
only two blocks apart.
Amanda will graduate from New York
University School of Medicine in May. She is
pursuing a career in ophthalmology
Matthew is an anesthesiology resident at
Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
The happy couple will be married in
February.

ichael and Karre Pickens of
West Bloomfield are delighted
to announce the engagement
of their daughter Mindy Pickens to Joshua
Balonick, son of Marcia and Bruce Balonick
of Highland Park, Ill.
Mindy received her B.S. degree from the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also
earned her MBA at Loyola University in
Chicago, where she is working as a financial
analyst at Russell Investments.
Joshua received his degree in business
from the University of Texas in Austin. He
went on to earn a master's in civil engineer-
ing from Colorado University and is working as a project manger for Crane
Construction in Chicago.
A November wedding in West Bloomfield is planned. The couple will reside in
Chicago.
